Volunteer Conference 2025:

Connection, Conversation, and Looking Ahead

On the weekend of August 30th & 31st, we were delighted to host our No Name Club Adult Volunteer Conference 2025 in the Tullamore Court Hotel, bringing together volunteers from across the country for a valuable weekend of connection, insight, and planning for the year ahead.

With representation from clubs nationwide, the event created a space to reflect on the work of our volunteers, hear from engaging speakers, and prepare as a community to welcome back our members for the 2025–26 club year.

Saturday: Insight and Energy

The conference opened with a strong and thought-provoking programme of guest speakers. We were joined first by Cathy Farrell from LIFT Ireland, who helped set the tone with a focus on values-based leadership and the impact of positive influence in communities.

Next, we heard from Barry Grant, representing the Extern Problem Gambling Project, who gave a valuable and timely talk on the realities of gambling harms, especially in younger populations, and how youth organisations can play a role in prevention and support.

Later in the afternoon, we welcomed Walsh PR, who provided insights into the public narrative around No Name Club, our media presence, and practical tips for volunteers on effective and responsible use of social media within club settings.

The afternoon concluded with a session led by our new CEO, Jack O’Brien, who spoke about the 2025–26 year ahead, followed by an open and engaging Q&A with volunteers.

A Chance to Unwind

After a packed Saturday programme, volunteers had a well-earned breather before the evening's social event. After dinner, we continued what is fast becoming a favourite tradition — No Name Club’s very own novelty bingo. There were plenty of laughs, and a few unexpected calls and checks.

Sunday: A Powerful Closing Message

We were honoured to close the weekend with a guest talk from John Lonergan, former Governor of Mountjoy Prison and a respected national voice on leadership, social justice, and mental health. John's words offered reflection, encouragement, and a grounding reminder of the importance of compassion in youth work and beyond.

Looking Ahead

A sincere thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making the weekend such a success. Here's to a fantastic 2025–26 club year ahead!
