Terms of Reference for the Engagement of a Strategic Planning Consultant

1.) Introduction

The No Name Club is seeking the services of an experienced Strategic Planning Consultant to assist in the development and enhancement of our organisational strategic plan. The consultant will work closely with the leadership team and key stakeholders to provide strategic guidance, facilitate the planning process, and deliver a comprehensive and actionable strategic plan.


2.) Objectives

The primary objectives of hiring a Strategic Planning Consultant are as follows:

  • To assess and understand the current organisational environment, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
  • To facilitate strategic discussions with key stakeholders, including the Board of Directors and relevant staff members.
  • To guide the development of a clear and concise strategic plan that aligns with the organisation's mission, vision, and goals.
  • To provide expertise in best practices for strategic planning and offer recommendations based on our sector benchmarks.

3.) Scope of work

The scope of work for the Strategic Planning Consultant includes, but is not limited to:

  • Conducting a thorough review of existing organisational documents, reports, and relevant data.
  • Facilitating strategic planning workshops and sessions with the Board of Directors.
  • Analysing internal and external factors influencing the organisation.
  • Providing guidance on goal setting, performance metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Developing a comprehensive strategic plan document, including actionable steps and timelines.
  • Recommending a monitoring and evaluation framework for the successful implementation of the strategic plan.

4.) Deliverables

The consultant is expected to deliver the following:

  • An initial assessment report outlining findings, opportunities, and challenges.
  • Facilitation of strategic planning sessions and workshops.
  • A draft strategic plan document for review and feedback.
  • A final, comprehensive strategic plan document, including an implementation roadmap and monitoring framework.

5.) Timeline

The consultant is expected to complete the strategic planning process within 5 months. This includes the submission of the initial assessment report, draft strategic plan, and the final strategic plan document.


6.) Reporting and Communications

The consultant will report directly to Board member Edith Geraghty, who will serve as the primary point of contact within the organisation. Regular updates on progress and any challenges encountered during the process are expected.


7.) Budget

The budget for this consultancy is €10,000. The consultant is responsible for all expenses related to the engagement.


8.) Proposal Submission

Interested consultants should submit a detailed proposal, including a cover letter, professional portfolio to include examples of previous relevant work, a proposed timeline, and a detailed breakdown of fees and expenses to Edith Geraghty at egeraghty@nonameclub.ie.


9.) Proposal Deadline

The deadline for submitting proposals is Friday 22nd of March by close of business. Late submissions will not be considered.


10.) Selection Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated based on the consultant's portfolio, experience, methodology, understanding of the organisation's needs, and cost.


11.) Contractual Arrangements

The selected consultant will be required to enter into a formal agreement with No Name Club outlining the terms and conditions of the engagement.
