Road Safety Deadlines Extended

The recent bad weather has seen clubs around the country have their activities severely hampered. Because of this, the deadline for the first two competitions the No Name Club is running with the Road Safety Authority has been extended.  Entries for the competitions to design a Greeting Card with a road safety theme and to design an item of High Visibility Clothing to be worn by people walking at night must now be received by Tuesday, January 4th.  This means clubs and  teenage members of No Name Clubs across the country now have additional time to make the most of their entries for the competitions.

Competition 1

The item of High Visibility Clothing should be designed for young people who are walking at night. Entrants might consider what colours might work well at night, is there a pattern that could be eye-catching, are there colours that work together. Entries can be drawn or designed on computers. Text detailing the concept of the design – no more than 250 words – should accompany your entry. The winning entry will receive €500 for their club.

Competition 2

We’re asking members to design a Greeting Card with a road safety theme. This can be for Christmas, Valentines Day or the Leaving Cert. Again, the entries can be drawn or designed on a computer. The winning entry within each category will win €200 for their club.

We are urging clubs to make the most of the time that is left and encourage their members to submit the best possible entries. The extended deadline will afford club members an opportunity to work on an entry/entries over the Christmas holidays.

The deadline for the third competition we are running with the authority – to design a road safety poster – is still 21/01/2011.

Entries can be sent to No Name Club, 32 Main Street, Newbridge, Co Kildare or e-mailed to mmcglynn@nonameclub.ie.
