No Name Club and RSA team up for exciting initiative

The No Name Club and the Road Safety Authority have teamed up to launch an exciting initiative that will engage our members on the critical issue of road safety.

Both organisations have formed a partnership offering three exciting competitions for No Name Club members across the country. The competitions are asking the young people to design an item of high visibility clothing, a road safety poster, and greeting cards with a road safety theme. Prizes worth €500 are on offer for winning entrants’ clubs.

This is an initiative and partnership we are very keen to promote and we would encourage all clubs to embrace it. It offers an excellent opportunity to address the issue of road safety, while allowing members use their creative talents and have fun in doing so.

The initiative was launched last weekend, on Saturday, October 2nd, at the No Name Club Western Regional Conference at The Welcome Inn Hotel, Castlebar. Some 145 No Name Club members attended the very successful event.

Speaking about the initiative, Con Nolan, No Name Club Chief Executive Officer has said:
“We’re delighted to have formed this partnership with the Road Safety Authority. These competitions present us with an excellent opportunity to work with and engage hundreds of teenagers around the country on an issue that, unfortunately, is in the headlines all too often with tragic consequences. As an organisation, we believe it is very important to work with our teenage members on matters that face them and this could be something that saves lives and changes attitudes.”

Noel Brett, Chief Executive Officer of the Road Safety Authority, has said: “The Road Safety Authority is delighted to team up with the No Name Club to deliver this exciting initiative. In 2009, 40 per cent of the deaths on Irish roads were people aged under 25. It is crucial we engage with young people on an issue that sees so many young lives being wasted needlessly. We’re delighted to have formed this partnership with the No Name Club and believe it will highlight the issue in a fun and imaginative way among hundreds of teenagers around the country.”

The No Name Club Training Officers will provide information and support in relation to the competition. The competition poster is below and flyers are available by calling our head office at 045 435444.
