Melleray 2010

No Name Club members from all over Ireland are assembling this weekend at Melleray, Co Waterford, for a weekend of activity and socialising. The weekend has been organised by Dungarvan No Name Club and is now fully booked so unfortunately new applications cannot be made. Provided below is a letter that will provide those attending with a flavour of what the weekend will have in store and contains important information for those travelling.

Melleray 2010 Explanatory Letter

The weekend is running from Friday November 19th to Sunday November 21st and a large games room is contained within Mount Melleray Scout Centre, where the weekend is being held. The facility contains two pool tables, a dartboard, table tennis and two air hockey tables. Competitions are expected to be organised over the weekend and the facility also has an indoor climbing wall and this year, for the first time, there is a room that houses a Lazer Game on a big screen. The centre also has a large TV screen in a dedicated room and a DVD player.

If the weather is good, there are options for outdoor activities with great walks in the hills and an orienteering course. An outdoor amhitheatre allows a campfire to be lit, playing fields are nearby and outdoor squash/handball and basketball facilities are also available. A small obstacle course with a zip line is another activity option. A very short walk from the scout centre is Mount Melleray Abbey. The Monastery has a thriving Cistercian Community of monks that large numbers visit throughout the year and it has churches, tea rooms, a shop and heritage centre with an interesting slide show of the history of Mount Melleray.

The attached letter contains lots more information about the weekend and it is very important people read it before they travel. We wish all who travel a very enjoyable stay.
