Kitchen Sizzles in Cobh

Just some of the skills and knowledge of 30 years of cooking were imparted upon hostesses of Cobh No Name Club recently. As part of a health promotion training initiative, the hostesses spent a day in the kitchen with Liz Broderick, a local cook who has been creating dishes for three decades. The Cobh teenagers cooked starters, main courses, deserts and an all day-treat. Among the dishes Liz taught the seven hostesses to cook, were barbeque chicken drumsticks and wings, chicken curry, Indian bamsatti rice, swiss roll, fruit salad and the traditional Irish favourite, scones. The event was held in the Convent of Mercy, Cobh on Monday, May 2nd. While the cooking took three-and-a-half hours, the consumption of the food was a good deal quicker! A very enjoyable day was had by all, with the young people learning valuable life-skills that will hopefully stand them in good stead in the years ahead. Images of the day can be viewed below.
