Gort’s Charity Fashion Show

Gort No Name Club has embarked on an exciting, innovative and fun community project that will bring people and groups together to raise money for charity.

The Co Galway Club is running an alternative fashion show on Friday March 25th to raise much needed funds for Croí, the charity that aims to reduce the impact of heart disease and stroke on families living in the West of Ireland. Not only will we see the latest styles being paraded on the catwalk, but there will also be musical entertainment provided by club members and a raffle will offer excellent prizes on the night.

On St Patrick’s Day, the club promoted the event thru its involvement in the local parade and donned funky looking attire in order to do so. The colour and fun the club brought to the parade saw Gort No Name Club being awarded the title of best float. A gallery of images from the day can be viewed below.

Speaking on the fashion show, Trish Beakey, Gort No Name Club Secretary says: “This promises to be a new and exciting community project that will be accessible to all ages and a challenging and uplifting event in these financially tough times. It is our aim to bring Gort and the wider community together for a night of fun, entertainment and togetherness, all in the aid of a very worthy cause.”

The show is being driven by the host and hostesses of Gort No Name Club. The event will take place on Friday March 25th at The Centre, Gort, from 7.30pm. Tickets will be sold before the event for a price of €10 for an adult. The Connaught Tribune recently reported on the event and the report can be viewed below.

The initiative was launched on Saturday February 21st at the No Name Club Eastern/Southern Region Conference 2011 in the Garda College, Templemore. Members of the Gort Club were joined by Carole Goulding, No Name Club Chairperson and Con Nolan, the organisation’s Chief Executive Officer, at the launch.
