Competition deadlines approaching

The issue of road safety is once again to the fore as the country is covered under a blanket of snow and driving conditions are hazardous. And as we move into December and the Christmas period, two of our competitions with the Road Safety Authority are drawing to a close. In two weeks time – December 15th, the deadline for the competitions to design an item of high visibility clothing and to create a greeting card with a road safety theme will arrive. Clubs and members are encouraged to make the most of the remaining time and get their entries together and submitted to be in with a chance of winning up to €500.

The item of high visibility clothing should be designed for young people walking at night and can be drawn on a page or created on a computer (it can be e-mailed to A prize of €500 is being offered to the winning entrants club.

The greeting cards can cover three themes: Christmas, Valentines Day or Leaving Cert. Each card has to have a road safety theme and €200 is being offered for the best design in each category. The €200 will go to the winning entrants club. Once again, the card can be designed on paper or on a computer.

We are encouraging clubs and their members to utilise their artistic skills to make the best opportunities presented by these competitions.

Entries can be sent to the No Name Club, 32 Main Street, Newbridge, Co Kildare or e-mailed to
