“Graduation Night”
53 Hosts / Hostesses received a 1 year Certificated in Self Development for there participation with the No Name Club for 08/09. Father Michael Gormely presented each Host / Hostess with there certificates. MC’s for the night were Host Thomas McKenna and Hostess Sorcha Gannon. Speakers on the night were Councillor Pasty O’Brien, Councillor Damian Ryan, Councillor Michael Burke, Breda Ruane Mayo VEC Officer, Willie Culkeen Vice Chairperson Ballinrobe Community School, Pat Duffy from Ballinrobe Development Councill and Anthony McCormack Chairperson of Ballinrobe No Name Club. We also welcomed our new Hosts / Hostesses for 09/10. A great night was had by all Hosts / Hostesses and Adult Leaders and Parents that attended on the night and to the Valk Niteclub for giving us the venue on the night. Many Thanks
“Bowling”
15 H&Hs went to Castlebar to go bowling along with Westport, Claremorris, Islandeady No Name Clubs. A very enjoyable evening was had by all and some time in the coming weeks we will take a trip down again….
“Ice Skating”
40 H&Hs went Ice Skating with other Mayo No Name Clubs on a cold frosty Sunday morning. We left Ballinrobe at 9:30am and arrived at 4pm. The dudes were so excited on the trip up as some of them had already been skating before and for others it was the first time ever….. When we arrived in Galway the Dudes had a mini trial at the ice skating venue when they nearly skidded in the doors of the ice rink because of the icy weather conditions. The Adult Leaders got the dudes ready for skating by helping them put on there skates…. Eventually they got out on the ice and had loads of fun and craic slipping and sliding around the ice rink!! After 45 mins were over the dudes wanted to stay on skating for another while but unfortunately they had to finish at that time to let other No Name Clubs on the ice! A very enjoyable day was had by all and can’t wait for next year to go again…!!!
“Regional Youth Awards”
On Sunday January 31st Host Niall Walsh and Hostess Sharon Gibbons were chosen by 2 Judges (Mary Munroe and Mark Grehan) to represent our club at the Regional Finals in Claremorris on Sunday February 14th…
On Sunday February 14th at 9am 15 Dudes went down to show support for Niall and Sharon and also to Support the Karoake Girls (who did there best but unfortunately they didn’t get threw to the National Karoake Final). Niall and Sharon seemed very relaxed when they came out from the private interview and they said that it went well for them… At 4pm the result was announced and Niall Walsh got threw to the National Final and everyone in the club was happy for him! This is the first time ever that a Host / Hostess got threw to the National Youth Awards so we are counting down the days to April 10th….where all in the club will be heading to Kilkenny to support Niall and everyone wishes him well….
