Selling like hot cakes!

CAKES were flying out the door in Ballyjamesduff Hall last weekend as the local No Name Club held a fundraiser.

Ballyjamesduff No Name Club teamed up with the Order of Malta’s Cavan Unit (Community Care and Cadets) to hold what proved to be a very successful jumble and cake sale.

David Cahill, Secretary of Ballyjamesduff No Name Club, said they raised a total of €690, after expenses, which was split 50/50 between the No Name Club and the Order of Malta.

Ballyjamesduff No Name Club also used the opportunity to raise awareness of its activities and put the call out for more adult volunteers to come on board.

“The day was a huge success,” said David, adding that the Road Safety Authority (RSA) gear they had to distribute was snapped up almost as fast as the delicious cakes

There were also a number of prizes for lucky visitors to the jumble and cake sale, as well as for one of the 12 cadets from the Order of Malta who helped out on the day.

“At the sale we will had an information stall detailing the magnificent work that No Name Clubs do around the country; how our local club has operated over the past 15-plus months and we are now appealing to adults and teens to support the club so it can continue to do wonderful work in the community for years to come,” said David.

“The club is for teens aged 15 and above and as well as making a big difference to their confidence and self-esteem it also allows them to make a difference in their local community,” he added. Ballyjamesduff No Name Club will host its graduation on Friday, August 24.

For further information or to express an interest in volunteering with or joining Ballyjamesduff No Name Club please contact David Cahill on 087-3130231 before Wednesday, August 22. All adult volunteers must be aged 21 or over.
